lets shut JJ Kelly down and send the students to the other schools

lets just send all the Kelly kids to Pound, Coeburn, Appy and PV for the next year while they work on the school in Wise to bring it up from its dangerous, delapadated, falling down state before we put all the kids in Pound in there. Then do the same the next year to PV, send all those students to the surrounding schools while they renovate PV High School. As a parent who went through this in Norton at the Elm & Middle school I will tell you it can be done but it would be so much better to do this over a year without any students to work around.

Really not feasible at all, sending kids to 5 different schools, it's nothing like the NES situation. How would you even determine who goes where? Don't even know how that would be possible or if they could do that. This was just a move to show people consolidation is going to happen, the BOS can do it the right way or sit by and do nothing, ball is in their court now. Much easier and actually possible to just bring the smaller schools into the larger ones that can handle it, then sending the larger ones to all the rest.

kids entering 9th can to to Appy. kids entering 10th will go to Pound. kids entering 11th will go to PV and kids entering 12th can to to Coeburn. Or if it would make them feel better the seniors can stay at Kelly in a corner of the building while they work on the rest of the school but that would be just as crazy at my first post.

And they're supposed to bus these kids all over the county? What about for example a brother in the 10th grade and a sister in the 11th living in the same home, but going to schools 30 plus minutes apart. Which is just one problem...sports eligibility would work how? If enovations take more than a year, would they have to change schools again with the rotation? Like I said, its not feasible.

No offense starbuck, but that may be one of the worst ideas ever. Its just not feasible at all to shift entire grades to such and such school.

Wise County, and especially the BOS, is just going to have to man up and deliver some money for 3 new schools in the near future. It should have been done a decade ago really.

Things like that was what broke me on the "cram" plan the first time. Basham said JJ Kelly was too small for the kids they had and needed to expand- but not enough to make up for the kids he was gonna bring in from Pound. I asked them about JUST trying to switch some bus routes to fill Appy and Pound while they got a plan together for new schools. All it would have taken was some fuel for the bus- not a member of the board would even talk about that, even if they didn't like things- what are you out? Switching back to the original school. I was never happy about closing schools, but wouldn't have been against new schools. And to bus for one year, how bad could it be? But I do think he was poking fun at the boards.

I don't know where Basham got that Kelly was too small. Back in the late 70's and in the 80's there was around 800 to 1000 students. Even in the earlier 90's there where over 700.

The schools are without question large enough to handle the extra students that being said they are STILL to old to cost efectavly be maintained new schools are STILL needed

BUt lets look at it this way......

Plan 1------SB wants 3 New schools on 3 Sights ------BOS says no due to the cost possibly raising taxes

Plan 2------SB cuts the cost down to what the BOS says they will finance by coming up with the 2 on 1 Plan--------BOS realizes that that 2 on 1 is NOT a great option but instead of going back to the 3 on 3 and paying a little they try to stall and arm twist a no change

Plan 3------SB goes with the Bashaham plan do to the BOS not giving them any other choose-------BOS crys that a new alternative would be a good starting point even though it really does nothing but promis 1 new school (which if history would be a guide could be voted down at the next meeting)

Plan 4(Future)-------After the Cram Plan(Bashaham Plan) is put in place the BOS will build the 3 on 3 schools and try to look like the heroes when it was them that caused the issue in the 1st place

On a side note i vote that one school go with "The Bashers" As there Mascot (In honor of Basham who was a man whos vision was ahead of its time)

Other name s could be
"The Cramers" (For the new nickname of the plan),
"The Fighting Flippers" (For Some whos flip flops bring us to this point),
"The Bush Leagers" (To honor everyone who offered no solutions but would do there best to cut down any plan that changed preatty much anything)

Progress by stuffing the kids in the old schools? Wise Co should have just paid for the schools and went on. Basham wanted to blow 54 mil 10 years ago on renovations. We wasted enough on the first set of plans to pay for a third of this- but everybody has their ties to some company-"My husband says the price of pipe has gone up, block has gone up" - just pay his company some more, you could retire.
